I love music! I cannot count the number of times I have thanked God for this wonderful gift. My favorite thing about music is how it can lift me up and cheer me up when I'm at my lowest.
Music has a soothing and calming power. You can see an example of this in 1 Samuel 16:14-23; a sorrowful spirit from the Lord tormented Saul, and it was only when David played the harp that Saul found peace. Music still has that effect today; When I'm distressed, listening to music cheers me up, relaxes me, invigorates me and changes my mood.
I started listening to Christian music three years ago whenjesus saved me🇧🇷 If secular music encouraged me before, Christian music took it to another level. Christian music has encouraging lyrics based on our hope in Jesus, his faithfulness, amor, miguaranteed promisesbe with us in our trials. It also brings us closer to God.
I made a list of the 12 Christian songs that have inspired me the most in difficult times. If you need help today, please listen to these songs and I pray that God will comfort and encourage you through them.
May the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly in all wisdom, teaching and advising one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with grace in your hearts.

“You move mountains, you make walls fall, with your power you work miracles. There is nothing that is impossible. And we are here, only because You made a way."
travis verde
made a wayIt is a beautiful song about the great power of God. I heard it for the first time when I wasfighting depressionlast year, and I listened to it repeatedly for weeks. Listening to the song reminded me that God can and will make a way.It is a way of working miracles, making God🇧🇷 Although my situation seems hopeless, God is in control and will open the way.
2. Do it again – Elevation Worship
His promise still stands. Great is your faithfulness, faithfulness. I'm still in your hands. This is my confidence, you have never failed me yet.
cult of elevation
When I first heard this song in church, it was like it was written for me. I could relate to waiting on God, wondering how come He hasn't answered me all this time and wondering if he would ever help me. But, as the lyrics say, God's faithfulness still remains. He won't let me down, he won't let you down, and he won't let us down.🇧🇷 He has moved mountains before and he will again.
3. Seasons - Hillsong Worship
I can see the promise; I can see the future. You are the god of the seasons, and I am only in winter. If all I know about the harvest is that it's worth my patience. So if you're not done working, God, I'm not done waiting.
Culto Hillsong
There was a time early last year when I was about to give up. I had a significant setback and I told God I couldn't take it anymore. I don't know what prompted me to listen to Hillsong seasons, but the music spoke to me. Seasons is about waiting on God. God is patient and does things seasonally, and we will all have to make it through the winter.Although winter may seem long, one day it will end and spring will come with the promise of a harvest.🇧🇷 The song encourages me not to give up and wait on the Lord.
4. Good - Kristene DiMarco and Bethel Music
And through it all, through it all My eyes are on you. And it's OK. It's okay. So set my soul free and trust him. The waves and the wind still know his name.
betel music
This song leaves me alone, from the soft melody to the thoughtful lyrics. When I hear it, I try to let go of my stress and worries and just trust in God. music teaches thatNo matter what we face, we must keep our focus on Jesus, not our problems.🇧🇷 It is powerful enough to command winds and waves and can fix any situation.
5. All is well with my soul - Horatio Spafford
When peace like a river follows my path. When sadness comes like the waves of the sea. Whatever my luck, you taught me to say it's alright, it's alright with my soul.
Horacio Spafford(Video) My Prayer For You (Official Lyric Video) - Alisa Turner
This anthem cheers me upaccept what comes from the hand of the Lord.Nothing happens without God's sovereign approval. Although it can be difficult at times, you do it for a reason; and I must accept it and even be grateful for it.
What inspires me about this song are the events that led to its composition. Horatio Spafford had just lost his business, his fortune, and his four daughters in a maritime accident. Right there, in the midst of his most considerable pain, he said: "all is well with my soul🇧🇷 That kind of trust and faith in the Lord encourages me in my trials to also have faith in God and trust in Him.
6. Rock Solid - Unsaid
And through these dark and raging seas, His grace has not abandoned me. And for these storms I thank my God. Because they took me to solid rock.
not spoken
I remember listening to Solid Rock right after a failed job interview last year and how it brought me to tears. It's a beautiful acoustic song about broken dreams, the storms of life and how we need them because God uses them to shape us and draw us closer to Him.
It also moves me because it reminds me thateven though God allows us to go through these trials, His love and grace are still with us. We must not fear storms or run away from them because he will bring us closer to Jesus🇧🇷 Listening to it, in addition to holding back tears, I remember thinking about the good that God has done in my trials and thanking him for letting me pass.
7. Forests and Vales – Tauren Wells
When I am on the mountain behind, I did not arrive alone. When I'm walking at the end of the valley, no, I'm not alone. You are the God of hills and valleys, and I am not alone.
tauren pits
When everything is going well in our life, we believe that God is with us. Once tragedy strikes, we begin to wonder where God is. With this song, Tauren Wells reminds us that God is always with us and we are never alone. He is the one who takes us to the tops of the mountains and leads us through the valleys. In all of this, He is in control and never leaves us. I like to listen to this song, in difficult moments to remind me thatthe presence of problems is not equal to the absence of God.
8. Great is your faithfulness - Thomas Chisholm
Great is your faithfulness, Great is your faithfulness; Morning after morning I see new mercies. Everything I needed Your hand provided me. Great is your faithfulness, Lord, to me.
Tomas Chisholm
This is a great song forremember the faithfulness of God, His mercy and His eternal mercies. I had known about this hymn for some time, but only started listening to it last year when I was desperately trying to keep my faith. Hearing about God's faithfulness, how he provided for us before we knew we needed it, he encouraged me in ways I can't say. I love the penultimate line, which says:"Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow"because that's what God has been to me this season.
9. Rodeado (Fight My Battles) – Michael W Smith
It may seem like I'm surrounded, but I'm surrounded by you.
michael w smith
In 2 Kings 6:1-23, a king of Syria sent an army to capture the prophet Elisha for tactical purposes. A servant of Elisha looked out, saw the army, and was afraid. Elisha told the servant not to be afraid, so Elisha asked God to open the servant's eyes to see. When the servant looked again, he saw an army of angels surrounding Elisha.
I don't know if this story was the inspiration behindSurroundedBut that's what I think when I hear it. The song is only two lines long, but it lifts me up tremendously. I see myself as that fearful servant, assuming my obstacles surround me and I will perish. When in reality God surrounds me, and he is much stronger than my obstacles. the music reminds mehave faith like Elisha and know that God is with me despite the prospects of my situation.
10. My World Needs You – Kirk Franklin, Sarah Reeves, Tasha Cobbs, Tamela Mann
Storms may come, but when we call your name, everything changes. Kingdoms fall, one thing reigns forever is your name. The anchor that holds me in my pain remains the same. Oh, how nice to know that your great name will never change.

Oh how sweet it is to know that the name of Jesus will never change, but it changes everything! Life is so full of pain, difficulties and storms, but we have an anchor that holds us together, a savior that will come to our rescue.I enjoy listening to this song as it echoes to my heart's content. I need Jesus; this whole world needs it. Sometimes I can't help but feel afraid. I can't escape despair. I need to see his face and I need him in my situation. Your presence changes everything.
11. Tu testamento - Hillary Scott
“I know you see me, I know you hear me, Lord. Your plans are for me, my God, you have it saved. So, Thy will be done."
Hillary Scott
The lyrics of this song resonate very well with many believers and with myself. Many times I questioned God, why does he let me go through some things, why doesn't he intervene and leave me hurt? I thought my plans for my life were better than his.

12. Transformed - Tye Tribbett
The devil thought he had me, he thought my life was over. He thought that now he would give me up, he thought that I had no more left. But that's when someone bigger entered my situation, my morning was already beginning, it turned!
Tye Tribbett
I love listening to this song in times of trouble, even though God hasn't changed my situation yet. A pastor once toldpraise God in your trials for what you think He will do🇧🇷 I believe that God is going to change him, and I can worship him and thank him now. My favorite part of the song is the second part, which is very upbeat. It's my favorite part because it always makes me get up and dance! Praising and dancing to God in the midst of pain, even with my face wet with tears, brought an ineffable joy to my heart.
I hope some of these songs will cheer you up too. What are some of your favourites? Leave them in the comments below.
Grace and peace to you!
